Instructions:
Bootie Sole (Make 2)
Using Main Color (MC).
- Ch 11.
- Round 1: 2 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 8 ch, 5 hdc in last ch. Working down the other side of the chain: hdc in next 8 ch, 2 hdc in last ch. Join with sl st to first hdc. (26 hdc)
- Round 2: Ch 1. 2 hdc in first 2 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts. Join with sl st to first hdc. (36 hdc)
- Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in BLO in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. (36 sc) This creates a defined edge for the sole, making the bootie stand up.
Body of Bootie
Continue with Main Color (MC).
- Round 4: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to first hdc. (36 hdc)
- Round 5: Ch 1. Hdc in next 9 sts.
- Toe Shaping: Hdc2tog over next 2 sts, repeat hdc2tog 5 more times. (6 hdc2tog total)
- Hdc in next 9 sts. Join with sl st to first hdc. (30 hdc)
- Round 6: Ch 1. Hdc in next 8 sts.
- Toe Shaping: Hdc2tog over next 2 sts, repeat hdc2tog 3 more times. (4 hdc2tog total)
- Hdc in next 10 sts. Join with sl st to first hdc. (26 hdc)

Cuff
Switch to Contrast Color (CC).
- Round 7 (CC): Ch 2 (does not count as st). Dc in each st around. Join with sl st to first dc. (26 dc)
- Round 8 (CC): Ch 2. *FPdc around first dc, dc in next dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st to first FPdc. (26 sts) This creates the ribbed effect. Adjust if you prefer all FPdc for tighter ribbing.
- Round 9 (CC): Ch 2. Repeat Round 8. Join with sl st to first FPdc. (26 sts) For a wider cuff, repeat Round 8 one or two more times.
Switch to Main Color (MC).
- Round 10 (MC): Ch 2. Repeat Round 8. Join with sl st to first FPdc. (26 sts)
- Round 11 (MC): Ch 2. Repeat Round 8. Join with sl st to first FPdc. (26 sts) For a taller cuff, repeat Round 8 one or two more times with MC.
Finishing:
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for weaving in.
- Weave in all loose ends securely.

Sizing Up/Down:
- For Newborn (as written): Ch 11 for the sole.
- For 3-6 Months (approx. 4 inches / 10 cm): Ch 13 for the sole, then follow the increase pattern for the sole. You will likely end up with 40-42 hdc in Round 2. Adjust the number of hdc before and after the toe decreases in Rounds 5 and 6 accordingly to ensure they are centered and the decreases cover about 10-12 stitches in the middle.
- For 6-9 Months (approx. 4.5 inches / 11.5 cm): Ch 15 for the sole, then follow the increase pattern. Adjust decrease placements as needed.
To adjust sole increases for larger sizes: Continue the increase pattern from Round 2. For example, in a new Round 3 for a bigger sole, you’d increase by making 2 hdc in the first 2 sts, hdc across the side, 2 hdc in the toe section, hdc across, and 2 hdc in the heel. Always end with an “in BLO” sc round to create the ridge for the bootie to sit on.
There you have it! A sweet pair of handmade crochet booties for a precious little one. These are perfect for gifts, baby showers, or just keeping tiny toes warm and stylish.
Happy Crocheting!
