Delicate & Easy Crochet Square

Materials:

Lightweight yarn (cotton or bamboo blends work beautifully for a delicate look)
Appropriate size crochet hook for your yarn (check the yarn label)

Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):

ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
sp = space

Instructions:

Round 1: Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc 11 in the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (12 dc)

Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in the same stitch. Ch 1, 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to around. Ch 1, join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (24 dc, 12 ch-1 spaces)

Round 4: Sl st into the next dc and into the first ch-1 sp. Ch 1, sc in the same ch-1 sp. Ch 3, sc in the next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * around. Ch 3, join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 ch-3 spaces)

Round 5: Sl st into the first ch-3 sp. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in the same sp. Ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * around. Ch 1, join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (36 dc, 12 ch-1 spaces)

Round 6: Sl st into the next 2 dc and into the first ch-1 sp. Ch 1, sc in the same ch-1 sp. Ch 5, skip the next 3 dc, sc in the next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * around. Ch 5, join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 ch-5 spaces)

Round 7: Sl st into the first ch-5 sp. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in the same sp. Ch 1. (3 dc, ch 1) twice more in the same ch-5 sp. Ch 1. 3 dc in the next ch-5 sp, ch 1. Repeat from * twice more. Repeat from ** around. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.

Round 8: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch-1 sp around. Join with a sl st to the first sc.

Finishing: Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.
