EASY FLOWER CROCHET SQUARE | Video tutorial

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in two colors: one for the flower (Color A) and one for the square background (Color B).

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet

Pattern:

Flower Center (with Color A):

Round 1: Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring. Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), 6 sc in the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 sc) Round 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 sc) Fasten off Color A.

Join Color A with a sl st to any sc from Round 3. Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in the same st, ch 1, (2 dc in the next sc, ch 1) 11 times. Join with a sl st to the top of the beg ch-3. (12 petals, 12 ch-1 spaces) Round 5: Sl st into the first ch-1 sp. Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) all in the same ch-1 sp. Sl st in the next ch-1 sp. Repeat around 11 more times. Join with a sl st to the first sl st. Fasten off Color A.

Joining into a Square (with Color B):

Join Color B with a sl st to any sl st between two petals from Round 5. Round 6: Ch 1, sc in the same st. Ch 5, skip the next petal, sc in the sl st between the next two petals. Repeat from * around 3 more times. Ch 5, join with a sl st to the first sc. (4 ch-5 spaces) Round 7: Sl st into the first ch-5 sp. Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) all in the same ch-5 sp. Repeat in the next 2 ch-5 spaces. In the last ch-5 sp, work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc), ch 2. Round 8: In the next ch-5 sp, work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc), ch 2. Repeat in the next 2 ch-5 spaces. In the last ch-5 sp, work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc), ch 1, hdc in the ch-2 sp from the previous round. This will bring you to the center of the corner. Round 9: Ch 1, sc in the same hdc.
