These little booties work up quickly, make a thoughtful handmade gift, and are perfect for keeping those precious feet snug and cozy.

What You’ll Need:

  • Worsted weight yarn in your desired color(s) (a soft, baby-friendly yarn is ideal)
  • Crochet hook size G/6 (4.0 mm)
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Buttons or small embellishments for decoration

Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • inc: increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec: decrease (sc2tog – single crochet two stitches together)  

Gauge:

While gauge isn’t critical for this small project, aim for approximately 4 sc = 1 inch.

  1. Ch 11.

  4. Round 3: Ch 1, sc in the first st, 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next 9 sts, (2 sc in the next st) x 3 times, sc in the next 9 sts, (2 sc in the next st) x 2 times. Sl st to the first sc to join. (34 sts)

Upper:

  1. Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st to join. (34 sts)
  2. Ch 1, sc in the back loop only of each st around. Sl st to join. (This creates a nice ridge for the sole.) (34 sts)

Ankle Strap (Make 2):

  1. Ch 15.
  2. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. (14 sts)
  3. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:

  1. Sew the upper to the sole using your yarn needle. Align the front center of the upper with the front center of the sole and work your way around.
  2. Sew one end of the ankle strap to the side of the shoe, near the back.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the second shoe.
  4. Weave in all loose ends.
  5. Optional: Add buttons or other embellishments to the straps for closure and decoration.
