There’s something so utterly charming about crocheting little shoes for a baby. It’s a project that works up quickly, makes a wonderful handmade gift, and is just plain adorable. Today, I’m thrilled to share a super easy crochet pattern for the sweetest little baby booties. Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or just picking up your hook, you’ll find this pattern a breeze. Let’s get started on creating some cozy footwear for that special little one!

What You’ll Need:

  • Worsted weight yarn in your desired color (a soft yarn is always a good choice for babies)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • rep = repeat

Gauge: Gauge isn’t critical for this project, but aim for approximately 4 hdc stitches per inch to ensure a good size for a newborn.

Ankle Strap (Make 2):

  3. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

Finishing Touches:

  • You can add a small button or snap to the ankle strap for closure. Simply sew it onto one strap and create a small opening between stitches on the other strap, or sew on the corresponding part of the snap.
  • Get creative with colors! Stripes, color blocking, or adding small embroidered details can make these booties even more special.
  • Consider adding a small crocheted flower or bow to the front for an extra touch of sweetness.
