SOUSPLAT CUP HOLDER VERY EASY TO MAKE | Video tutorial

let’s create a simple and easy-to-crochet sousplat cup holder!

Materials:

  • Medium-weight cotton yarn (choose a color you like)
  • Crochet hook (size H-8 or I-9, or adjust to match your yarn)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Instructions:

  1. Start with a Magic Ring:
    • Create a magic ring. If you’re not comfortable with a magic ring, chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: Foundation Round:
    • Chain 1 (this doesn’t count as a stitch).
    • Work 12 double crochets (dc) into the magic ring.
    • Slip stitch into the first dc to join.
  3. Round 2: Increasing Round:
    • Chain 2 (this counts as the first dc).
    • Work 2 dc in each stitch around.
    • Slip stitch into the top of the first chain 2. (24 dc)
  4. Round 3: Creating the Edge:
    • Chain 1.
    • Work 1 single crochet (sc) in each stitch around.
    • Slip stitch into the first sc to join.
  5. Round 4: Creating a small wall:
    • Chain 2 (this counts as the first dc).
    • Work 1 dc in each stitch around.
    • Slip stitch into the top of the first chain 2.
  6. Finishing:
    • Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Tips and Variations:

  • Size Adjustment: To make the cup holder larger or smaller, adjust the number of double crochets in Round 1.
  • Color changes: You can change colors every round or every few rounds to create stripes or other patterns.
  • Texture: you can change the last two rounds to single crochet to give more texture.
  • Yarn choice: Cotton yarn provides good stability, but you can experiment with other yarns if desired. Just be aware that different yarns will create different textures and thicknesses.
  • Border: Add a final round of a contrasting color with a simple border stitch, like a picot edge or a reverse single crochet, for a decorative touch.
