How to Crochet a Heart
Materials:
- Yarn (any weight)
- Crochet hook (size H-8 or 5mm)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- dc: double crochet
- trc: treble crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
Instructions:
- Make a Magic Ring:
- Create a slip knot and place it on your hook.
- Yarn over (YO) and pull through the slip knot.
- YO and pull through both loops on the hook.
- YO and pull through both loops on the hook again.
- You should now have a ring of 2 loops on your hook.
- Round 1:
- ch 2, 15 dc into the ring, sl st into the top of the first dc.
- Round 2:
- ch 2, 1 dc into the same stitch, 4 trc into the next stitch, 2 dc into the next stitch, 1 hdc into each of the next four stitches.
- Now we are at the point of the heart: 1 dc, 1 trc, 1 dc into the next stitch.
- Going up the other side: 1 hdc into each of the next four stitches, 2 dc into the next stitch, 4 trc into the next stitch, 1 dc into the next stitch, ch 2, sl st into the same stitch.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Tips:
- You can use any color or weight of yarn you like.
- If you want a larger heart, use a larger hook or a thicker yarn.
- You can add embellishments to your heart, such as buttons, beads, or sequins.
